Emerge at Seven

From Seven

“Seven Celebrated

We just want to say a big thank you to all those who came along to Seven Celebrates last Tuesday and helped to make it the fantastic evening it was. There was much to entertain, but all of you who saw Jenni Wren and Phil Sanger of Slanjayvah Danza perform their new work, ‘Blind Passion’, will know they saw something special. If you missed it you can catch it again as part of the Emerge Festival, of  which more later, on Friday 24th July at The Carriageworks at 9pm.

Heave 2009

In the meantime it’s not to late to catch the start of HEAVE 2009 as Pointed Arrow Theatre Company set out on a 21-day sailing circuit -the long way round Leeds and Bradford, starting and finishing at Seven! But instead of setting sail on the open water, The Yorkshire On-Land Boating Club’s four shipmates will spend the 21 days PUSHING their boat overland.

HEAVE starts at Seven this evening with short performances from 5-8pm returns three weeks later on Sunday 2 August. Dan Brown, Pointed Arrow’s artistic director and the ship’s captain, said the company hoped to use the trip to discover what holds the cosmopolitan county of Yorkshire together.

If you miss the start, then catch the end of the trip as the boat returns to Seven on Sunday 2 August.

Emerge New Work Festival

Three of the youngest theatres in Leeds, The Carriageworks, Stage @ Leeds and Seven are working in collaboration to develop a new initiative, Emerge New Work Festival. The three venues are providing their venues for emerging artists with potential for national recognition, giving them the opportunity to take centre stage. The festival is a week long event, Monday 20 - Saturday 25 July.

For the first time new talent emerging in the Leeds area will have the opportunity to be seen by different audiences and be given valuable expert advice. The venues will hold a variety of performances over the week, resulting in a showcase of multiple genres.

Tickets are available on the door on the day at the venue, or alternatively booked via The Carriageworks 0113 224 3801.

Monday 20 July - Seven - Emerge Launch, £3 for all 3 shows!

7pm - Chloe Bezer: An Audience with Ruby Corset
A reclusive aristocrat with a penchant for Rohypnol. Less ‘iron fist in a velvet glove’, more ‘Mac the Knife in a tight corset’.

8pm - Loud Mouse Theatre Company: Needs Must
In this strange, oppressive world the Authoritarians close in as we watch one couple struggle to hold on to what’s important.

9pm - The Dog-Eared Collective: The Apocalypse Roadshow
Comedy arsonists The Dog-Eared Collective poke the coals of panic in an expolsive sketch show about the end of the world.

Wednesday 22 July - Seven - Scratch Night, £3

We look forward to seeing you at Seven very soon.”
